While all eyes were on Apple’s major WWDC Conference (and the launch of the highly-anticipated VR headset, VisionPro) — the tech giant took a drastically different approach from recent competitors

Refraining from using the term AI during the entire 2.5 hour presentation!

While the new headset is likely to usher in some drastically new paradigms that will undoubtedly be intertwined with artificial intelligence (and Apple did use terms like machine learning), it appears us AI fanatics will have to wait a bit longer to see how Apple tackles the new technology directly.

If you’re interested in a recap of the WWDC (it was super impressive, despite the lack of AI) — we’ve got you covered with a quick thread rundown of the most important highlights:

One top headline in the AI space to know:

🔖 EU Demands Tech Giants Tag AI Content

The European Union (EU) is upping the ante in the battle against disinformation — with AI-generated content at the forefront of the debate.

EU Vice President Vera Jourova is calling on tech behemoths like Google, Meta, and Microsoft to tag all AI-generated content, a proactive measure to quell the spread of false information online.

Digital cattle lined up to be tagged as AI 🔖

Generative AI technologies, like Microsoft's Bing or Google's Bard, have already begun to revolutionize content creation — but they've also opened a Pandora's box of challenges in separating fact from AI-fabricated fiction.

Despite ongoing efforts to enact more comprehensive AI regulation with their AI Act, European officials are working on a voluntary code of conduct for AI intended to bridge the gap until the legislation takes effect (which is potentially years away).

"I don’t see any right for the machines to have the freedom of speech."

— EU Vice President Vera Jourova

As this new technology becomes an even bigger part of our lives, the EU is focused on bringing transparency to the AI revolution.
