One top headline in the AI space to know:

We tweeted Monday that there would likely be some big news coming out of Microsoft’s Inspire keynote this week — and the company certainly did not disappoint.
The AI giant released a series of announcements that made waves across the space, unveiling a major partnership with Meta to open-source and introduce LLaMA 2 — Meta’s formidable AI language model — onto Azure and Windows platforms.
We believe an open approach is the right one for the development of today's Al models.
Today, we’re releasing Llama 2, the next generation of Meta’s open source Large Language Model, available for free for research & commercial use.

This partnership extends far beyond just number-crunching power; it offers developers the tools to forge cutting-edge AI applications leveraging LLaMA 2's impressive generative capabilities. And the decision to open-source echoes Microsoft and Meta's shared vision of democratizing AI — aiming to make high-powered tools accessible to all.
Some great notes on LLaMA 2 from the always insightful Dr. Jim Fan:
You'll soon see lots of "Llama just dethroned ChatGPT" or "OpenAI is so done" posts on Twitter. Before your timeline gets flooded, I'll share my notes:

In their own product lineup, Microsoft also announced the rollout of Bing Chat Enterprise — an AI chatbot for enterprise use cases that keeps business data private and secure. The release brings AI integrations to work (at no added cost) for millions of Microsoft 365 business subscribers — while also providing assurances that company data won’t be shared or used to train models.
Microsoft also revealed pricing and expanded capabilities for Microsoft 365 Copilot — which takes AI productivity to the next level by combining LLMs with a company's Microsoft 365 data.
It can generate meeting notes, analyze data, write content and more. Copilot will cost a substantial $30 per user per month (much higher than most expected), so it remains to be seen if the value matches the price tag.
Additionally, Bing Chat itself is gaining new powers — including a Visual Search feature that allows users to ask detailed questions about any photo (like the cat example we shared yesterday).
The market appeared to love the moves, with $MSFT stock surging on the busy news day:
Microsoft is rapidly executing on an ambitious vision to bring advanced AI to the masses.
And with the decision by Meta open-source their tech, Zuckerberg and co. are bringing serious heat to push competitor OpenAI in the battle for AI supremacy.
